The Opportunity
We're partnering with one of the UK's most exciting and fastest-growing technology businesses as they continue a period of exceptional growth and investment.
Their SaaS platform powers mission-critical decision-making for global organisations, processing vast amounts of data and delivering real business impact at scale.
Following significant growth, they're investing heavily in engineering leadership and are seeking experienced Technical Leads and Lead Engineers to help shape the next generation of their platform.
This is a role for someone who loves technology, enjoys leading engineers, and wants genuine influence over architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction.
You'll join a business where engineering is at the heart of every strategic decision and where Technical Leads are trusted to make a real impact.

The Role
This is a 70% hands-on engineering and 30% leadership position.
We're specifically looking for leaders who still love writing code, solving complex technical problems, and contributing to architecture.

You will:
- Lead a team of talented software engineers
- Remain actively involved in software development

- Influence the future direction of a rapidly scaling platform
What You'll Be Doing
Technical Leadership
- Designing and building scalable services using Go
- Modernising and evolving a large-scale PHP platform
- Building high-performance APIs and backend services
- Driving architectural decisions across multiple product areas
- Leading code reviews and engineering best practices
- Solving complex scalability, reliability, and performance challenges
- Contributing across backend and frontend technologies
- Championing clean code, testing, and maintainability
People Leadership
- Leading, mentoring, and coaching software engineers
- Conducting regular 1-to-1s
- Supporting career development and growth
- Building high-performing engineering teams
- Creating a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture
- Supporting hiring and team expansion
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Strong commercial Golang experience
- Strong commercial PHP experience
- Previous experience leading software engineering teams
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing engineers
- Experience operating as a Technical Lead, Team Lead, Lead Engineer, or Hands-On Engineering Manager
- Strong API design and development experience
- AWS cloud experience
- Strong Object-Oriented Programming principles
- Modern software architecture experience
- Full-stack development experience
- Experience building and scaling complex production systems
