Technical Lead - Fullstack (Java)

SR2 is recruiting on behalf of a specialist software consultancy delivering bespoke solutions for UK Government.

Location: Home, or London/Bristol or Manchester - bi-weekly visits to London.
Clearance: Must be a British passport holder and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years, to be eligible for security clearance.

About the client

SR2 is supporting one of our long-standing software consultancy that builds bespoke solutions to solve complex operational problems for its customers. As the business continues to grow, they're looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer with strong Java skills to join a live project within their Central Government team.

The role

You'll join an Agile-focused team supporting government customers on interesting, complex projects, building new bespoke software solutions and keeping their capability up to date.

You'll get exposure to:

  • Designing, developing and testing software solutions
  • Working with a wide range of technologies, with a focus on open-source libraries and components
  • Building CI pipelines (e.g. GitLab) to monitor and ensure software quality and security
  • Deploying to a mix of public (AWS and Azure) and private cloud environments
  • The full software lifecycle — concept, requirements, architecture, implementation, delivery, training and support, and ongoing maintenance
  • Leading teams and managing client engagement (depending on experience)

What we're looking for

  • Commercial experience with Java, TypeScript, JavaScript and React
  • Comfortable working with cloud technologies, primarily AWS and Azure
  • Previous consultancy experience useful but not essential
