About the Role

Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a Technical Learning and Development Consultant. The UK Technical Maritime Services (UKTMS) Directorate supports this mission by inspecting and surveying ships to ensure compliance with UK and international safety, security and environmental standards. It also certifies ships and seafarers, manages the UK Ship Register, and contributes to responses involving pollution from shipping and offshore installations.

As a Technical Learning and Development Consultant, you will lead the strategic review, design and continuous improvement of directorate-wide technical learning and competency frameworks that build workforce capability and support operational excellence. You will drive the modernisation of UKTMS technical training by identifying capability gaps, developing competency and certification frameworks, and supporting workforce transformation. Using instructional design expertise, strategic workforce planning, digital learning technologies and data-driven evaluation, you will ensure training is effective, compliant and aligned with future workforce needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
