Your Responsibilities

  • Design and expand training and development programmes based on the needs of the business and individuals.
  • Produce training materials to complement/support courses provided.
  • Review and revise programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment, including flexible learning interventions (through digital and other mechanisms).
  • Deliver engaging and innovative training sessions using a variety of learning mechanisms to recognise and support different learning styles and to maximise learning and engagement.
  • Collaborating with line managers and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that training activities align with Company priorities and that all learning delivery is effective in terms of outcomes and value for money.
  • Support line managers to solve specific training problems through advice and sharing expertise.
  • Continually build cross-department collaboration, eliminating barriers and creating mutual learning and development opportunities that benefit the business.
  • Embed a programme of continuous evaluation and review of all training, learning and development activities to ensure that they are effective, in line with good practice and utilise current methods and technologies.
  • Publish dates for training courses and promote the training sessions to maximise the number of attendees.
  • Ensure that an effective system of record keeping is in place and maintain accurate and timely on training attendance and on the job learning to ensure audit compliance using relevant IT systems.
  • Participate in any audits relating to Training and Development; internally and with external agencies.
  • Produce information and data to support with analysis, audit and other reviews.
  • Take the lead in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with external training providers, universities and other learning institutions.
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees and apprentices.
  • Make the necessary arrangements for external trainers to deliver training in-house, including booking of meeting rooms and catering for sessions.
  • Work with departments to create and maintain a network of on the job trainers, continually evaluating the effectiveness of all on-the-job activities.
  • Line Management of apprentices, acting as a liaison with the college and ensuring that operational issues are managed effectively, including attendance, conduct, performance and providing pastoral support.

Your Qualification

  • Minimum academic qualification: CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice, or Certificate in Training Practice, or equivalent.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including an engaging and inspiring training style which creates a good learner experience.
  • Essential: Previous experience of delivering engaging training sessions in an inclusive way.
  • Desirable: Previous experience of developing and delivering online/virtual training using various software packages.
  • Desirable: Experience within a manufacturing environment involving training activities.
  • Experience of undertaking skills audits and training needs analysis.
  • Be passionate about delivering high quality, effective and inclusive learning interventions to a wide range of people. Be creative and flexible to ensure that learning is accessible to everyone from office or home-based employees to factory floor shift workers.
  • Maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and keep up to date with developments in learning and development by reading relevant journals and blogs, attending networking events, meetings and courses. Research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research to senior managers.
  • Work closely with other learning and development professionals across the Company (both within MBC and in the wider Company) to ensure sharing of best practice and consistent delivery of good quality training, learning and development opportunities.
  • Understanding of different learning styles and the ability to create inclusive learning environments which deliver effective training for employees from different cultures and backgrounds and with different learning needs.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Desirable: experience or an understanding of the implications of working in a highly regulated environment such as Medical Device Manufacture.
  • Desirable: Understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Be self-aware, seeking feedback on your training delivery and behaviours and using this information to create learning opportunities.

The post holder will be required to spend time on different parts of the site on a regular basis. This includes the factory floor, where Personal Protective Equipment (provided) must be worn. This is in order to ensure that you engage with learners in their own environment to build effective working relationships, understand the business environment and context and become integrated into the business.

Some travel will be required to visit subsidiary companies and suppliers.
