Technical Manager – Building Services

Location: Canary Wharf, London

Salary: £70,000

Role: Single-site position

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day technical and engineering operations of a prestigious commercial site in Canary Wharf.

This is a single-site role, offering genuine ownership of the building services function, alongside an excellent opportunity for career progression and professional development.

The Role

You will oversee the technical performance of the site, ensuring all building services are maintained to a high standard and that statutory, compliance, and operational requirements are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Managing the day-to-day technical operation of the building
  • Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance across M&E services
  • Managing specialist contractors and engineering suppliers
  • Ensuring statutory compliance, PPM, and H&S requirements are maintained
  • Monitoring contractor performance and service delivery
  • Supporting energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Managing technical documentation, records, and reports
  • Building strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
  • Leading and developing the on-site engineering team

About You

We are looking for a technically strong and proactive individual with a solid background in building services, facilities management, or engineering.

  • A Level 3 qualification in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideally a fully qualified Electrician or Mechanical Engineer
  • Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, or similar senior position
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building services and M&E systems
  • Experience managing contractors and specialist suppliers
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
