Technical Manager – Renewable Energy & Retrofit
📍 Cardiff
💰 £55,000 + Company Van + Fuel Card
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to take ownership of technical standards across a growing renewable energy and retrofit business.
This is a senior position for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with leadership ensuring projects are designed correctly, installed safely and delivered right first time.
You’ll become the technical point of authority across surveying, design, installation and compliance, working closely with project teams, installers, subcontractors and senior management.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead technical standards across renewable energy and retrofit projects
- Act as the technical authority for project and installation teams
- Review surveys, designs and installation methodologies
- Carry out site inspections, technical audits and quality reviews
- Ensure compliance with PAS 2030/2035, MCS, TrustMark and Building Regulations
- Provide technical support and resolve complex installation issues
- Manage technical performance across installers and subcontractors
- Develop technical procedures, standards and quality processes
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and right-first-time delivery
- Mentor and develop technical teams

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager or senior technical role
- Background in renewable energy, retrofit, M&E or construction
- Strong knowledge of domestic retrofit and renewable technologies
- Experience managing technical teams, installers or subcontractors
- Strong understanding of quality, compliance and installation standards
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence

Desirable
- MCS experience
- PAS 2030/2035 knowledge
- NICEIC, NAPIT or similar industry experience
- Social housing or funded retrofit programmes
- IOSH, NEBOSH or relevant technical qualification
