About the Role
We are partnering with a fast-growing, boutique UK software consultancy that brings complex systems to life through secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions.
As Technical Manager, you will serve as the technical authority across our engineering strategy, architecture, and client delivery. You will work side-by-side with mission-critical clients, primarily across classified public sector, defence, and high-stakes operational environments, where security-first design is a core requirement, not an afterthought.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a seasoned technical leader or principal engineer who thrives on solving tough architectural problems, defining rigorous engineering standards, and driving cloud-native innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architectural blueprints, and engineering standards across custom software and cloud transformation projects.
- Work directly with senior client stakeholders in classified environments to break down complex operational challenges into pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Embed security, compliance, and automated quality checks into every stage of the software delivery lifecycle.
- Stay close to the code and infrastructure, providing peer reviews, guiding software architecture, and occasionally prototyping solutions when needed
What We Are Looking For
- Must hold an active or recently active (lapsed within the last 12 months) UK SC or DV Clearance.
- Deep experience architecting and deploying solutions on AWS (exposure to GCP or Azure is a plus).
- Strong background in TypeScript / JavaScript and Node.js for backend systems.
- Solid hands-on knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK, along with robust CI/CD pipeline practices.
- A track record of evaluating technologies based on business value, clean architecture, and long-term maintainability over hype.
- Experience operating effectively within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) in cross-functional client teams.
