Technical Manager
My client are looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join the Precision Engineering team based near Plymouth.
The role will be 39 hours a week, 07:30-16:30 Monday – Thursday, 07:30 – 12:30 on a Friday. You will be reporting directly to the General Manager, working within a small management team in a highly dynamic company so will need to be comfortable working quickly and independently at times.
Responsibilities:
- Quoting and liaising with customers
- Processing orders and supporting production
- Continuous improvement (5S and lean manufacturing principles)
- Supporting sales functions
- Specific customer account management and ownership
- Monitoring and maintaining quality standards
- Overseeing and managing ISO 9001 compliance
- Reporting directly to the General Manager and supporting them with day-to-day business activities

Experience and skills:
- Previous technical/operational management experience within an engineering SME
- Preferably time-served apprenticeship in toolmaking/machining/welding/fabrication
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of engineering techniques (machining, welding, fabrication) sufficient enough to quote, advise customers and guide production
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques and 5S principles
- Commercial awareness
- Ability to work within a small team and be multidisciplined when needed
- Dedicated, driven and reliable

Salary
- £45-50k depending on experience
- 25 days annual leave + bank hols (1 additional day per year to a max of 27 days)
- Annual bonus subject to company performance. Up to 20% achievable.
- Company share scheme soon to be available.
