You’ll be expected to look at the data, spot where things could be better and make sure problems actually get solved. Whether it’s a customer complaint, an adverse trend or a factory non-conformance, you’ll push beyond the immediate fix to understand the root cause and prevent it happening again.

There’s a big people element too.

You’ll coach and develop your team, build capability and help create a culture where Food Safety and Quality aren’t seen as something Technical owns alone. That means building strong relationships with Production, Engineering, NPD and Supply Chain and being comfortable challenging when standards aren’t where they need to be.

Customer exposure will be important. You’ll lead audits and visits, build relationships with customers and translate their expectations into something that works practically on site.

You’ll need a strong Technical or Quality background within food manufacturing, with experience of BRC, HACCP, factory systems, audits and leading teams. Just as importantly, you’ll need to be visible, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-moving factory environment.
