Technical Manager

Greater Manchester
£65,000 - £75,000 + 15% Bonus

The best Technical Managers don’t just protect standards. They make the whole site better.

That’s what this role needs.

You’ll take the technical lead across a well-established food manufacturing site, sitting on the senior leadership team and owning Food Safety, Quality, Hygiene, Compliance, and customer standards.

But this isn’t a turnaround job.

The site is stable. The team is experienced. Audit performance is strong. What they need now is someone who can take that foundation and move it forward.

Opportunity Overview

A big part of the opportunity is people.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • You’ll inherit a settled Technical function with strong tenure and good knowledge.
  • There’s also a clear succession challenge ahead. Some experienced people are approaching retirement, others are still developing, and the business wants someone who can build the next layer of leadership rather than simply keep the department ticking over.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the team.
  • Create proper succession plans and ensure good people can see a future for themselves on site.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain, challenging when necessary but always with solutions.
  • Experience dealing with UK retailers, customer visits, audits, and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong grounding in BRC, HACCP, and food manufacturing standards.
  • Scope to look at hygiene, technical efficiency, and how the function can work smarter, not just harder.
