Technical Manager

We’re recruiting a Technical Manager for an established engineering and technology business based in Wokingham.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position, managing a small multidisciplinary team while remaining closely involved in the engineering itself.

The role is weighted towards electrical/electronic engineering, but we’re specifically looking for someone with enough mechanical engineering knowledge to take a broader systems-level view.

You’ll be working across the design, integration, manufacture and testing of technical systems, taking customer requirements and helping turn them into robust, manufacturable solutions.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for both technical delivery and line management, including:

  • Leading and developing a multidisciplinary technical team
  • Managing workload, priorities and engineering delivery
  • Electrical/electronic system design and integration
  • Supporting mechanical design and system integration activities
  • High-level system architecture
  • Embedded hardware and power supplies
  • Prototype build, integration and test
  • Component selection and technical specification
  • EMC and environmental testing
  • Fault finding, repair and modification
  • Producing technical, build and test documentation
  • Supporting manufacturing and resolving production issues
  • Providing technical input during customer and commercial discussions
  • Maintaining appropriate engineering and quality standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
