Technical Manager

Yolk Recruitment are partnered with this is a well-established precision engineering business with a reputation for quality, flexibility and customer service. Working across a varied workload, they manufacture precision components for customers in multiple sectors and offer a friendly, team-focused environment where individuals can make a real impact on business performance.

You will be joining a well-established precision engineering business where you'll play a key role in a small, experienced team producing high-quality components for customers across the medical, motorsport, defence and aerospace sectors. This is an opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to take ownership of customer relationships, quotations, quality standards and continuous improvement activities while working closely with the General Manager to help drive the business forward.

This is what you'll be doing:

  • Managing customer accounts, handling quotations and acting as a key technical contact for customers.
  • Processing orders and supporting production activities to help ensure projects run smoothly from enquiry through to delivery.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Monitoring quality standards and overseeing ISO 9001 compliance across the business.
  • Working closely with the General Manager to support day-to-day operations within a fast-paced precision engineering environment.

The experience you'll need in this role:

  • Previous technical or operational management experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing SME.
  • Strong engineering knowledge across areas such as machining, welding and fabrication, with the ability to advise customers and support production teams.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S methodologies, with experience driving improvements.
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable qualification, ideally supported by a time-served engineering apprenticeship.
  • Commercial awareness combined with the ability to work independently, manage priorities and contribute across multiple business functions.

  • Salary of £45,000-£50,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus scheme with up to 20% available based on company performance.
