Job Opportunity for Technical Manager / Commercial Manager / Technical Support Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager / Commercial Manager / Technical Support Manager to lead the technical and commercial delivery of a busy rotating equipment operation.

This role will focus on being the front line with customers and the glue between cross-functional teams to undertake quotations on projects, create proposals, and support tender submissions.

Ideal for someone with a strong background in pumps and rotating equipment who is looking to take the next step into a senior technical management position.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Technical Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of the workshop and field service teams.
  • Oversee pump repairs, overhauls, inspections, alignment activities, and performance testing.
  • The Technical Manager will review technical assessments, repair specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Support the preparation of quotations, repair proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Work closely with customers to provide technical advice and identify solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement, workshop efficiency, and commercial performance.
  • Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
  • The Technical Manager will support business growth through technical consultations, site surveys, and project opportunities.

About You

The Technical Manager must have a strong background in rotating equipment or industrial mechanical engineering with 5 years’ experience minimum.

  • A background and knowledge of pump systems, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement, multistage, and submersible pumps is ideal.
  • Experience with fault finding, vibration analysis, bearings, mechanical seals, and alignment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering reports, and performance data.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience supporting quotations and customer proposals.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Desirable Experience

  • HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience leading workshop, repair, or service operations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards relating to rotating equipment.
  • Vibration analysis certification.
  • Experience using maintenance or job-tracking systems.
