Technical Manager

Looking for a role where you'll have real ownership and influence? If you're an experienced Technical Manager who enjoys building supplier relationships, driving quality improvements and being the technical expert for a key retail customer, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for. We're looking for someone to take full technical responsibility for a Tesco fresh produce category, working closely with growers, suppliers, commercial teams and the customer to ensure products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety and legality. This isn't a role where you'll simply maintain standards-you'll have the opportunity to improve them.

What you'll be doing

As Technical Manager, you'll be the key technical contact for your product category, ensuring excellent communication between suppliers, commercial teams and Tesco whilst driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Taking full technical ownership of a Tesco fresh produce category.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and maintaining regular communication throughout the season.
  • Monitoring product quality and proactively managing any issues before they become problems.
  • Providing technical recommendations during daily production meetings.
  • Managing customer complaints, identifying trends and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Leading investigations following customer rejections and ensuring preventative actions are implemented.
  • Ensuring Tesco Quality Connect specifications, product records and Brandbank information are accurate and up to date.
  • Managing artwork approvals and packaging developments for your product area.
  • Preparing products for benchmarking, customer visits and sample requests.
  • Supporting trial work and product innovation projects.
  • Completing weekly customer reports and technical documentation.
  • Conducting end-of-season supplier reviews and driving continuous improvement plans.
  • Managing supplier due diligence and ensuring all compliance documentation remains current.
  • Supporting sustainability initiatives across the supply base.
  • Working closely with Sales, Marketing and Packaging teams to deliver commercially successful product and packaging developments.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation, including new varieties, packaging improvements and sustainability projects.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of Business Objects and technical systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
