About the Role
I'm currently recruiting for a technical management position at a local polymer and specialty chemical manufacturer. I saw your background and that you're open for work and thought this would be of interest.
Reporting directly to the CEO and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the business's technical function and play a pivotal role in shaping the future development of our client's product portfolio. Working closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and global commercial colleagues, you will drive new product development, technical strategy, quality standards, regulatory compliance, and customer-focused innovation.
The package is £60-70k DOE plus bonus, 0%/10% employer pension contribution and private healthcare. Other benefits to be shared upon request.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading technical strategy, product development, and formulation activities.
- Driving innovation across the specialty chemical product portfolio.
- Acting as the senior technical contact for customers and commercial teams.
- Building collaborative relationships with suppliers and development partners.
- Overseeing quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and technical governance.
- Supporting manufacturing operations with technical leadership and expertise.
- Leading projects focused on process improvement, validation, and continuous improvement.
- Developing and mentoring the technical team to support business growth.

- Knowledge of and experience with Surfactants.
- Experience leading New Product Development.
- Compliance and Technical Services experience would be a distinct advantage.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- A degree, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Emulsion Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical leadership within specialty chemical manufacturing, formulation, or related industries.
- Expertise in new product development, formulation chemistry, and product lifecycle management.
- The ability to balance scientific innovation with commercial objectives and customer needs.
- Experience building productive relationships with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of quality systems, regulatory compliance, and industry standards across UK, EU, and global markets.
- Project management skills and a structured approach to delivering technical initiatives.
- An understanding of process improvement, validation, and manufacturing support.
- A customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and complaint resolution capabilities.
- The confidence to operate as a strategic leader while remaining practical and engaged in day-to-day technical activities.
- A willingness to travel internationally as required.
