About Us
Hubber is building the next generation infrastructure ecosystem for commercial electric transport in cities, delivering high powered sites for fleets, from ride-hailing and parcel delivery to field services, rental and autonomous vehicles.
Founded in 2024 by an ex-Tesla team, Hubber has secured over £60m of capital, announced a partnership with Uber and already delivered 10+ projects. The next two years take it from a handful of sites to hundreds, and this role is a rare chance to join a company making the jump from start-up to scale-up.
The Role
Our sites are all about civils and power. The risk sits in the ground, the grid and the highway: no drainage outfall, a live cable where the plinth goes, a connection offer that lands at twice the budget, a S278 agreement nobody started. Find it at due diligence and it is a line in the appraisal. Find it on site and it is a variation, a delay and a month of lost revenue.
You own the technical side of every site, from heads of terms to a technically approved tender package. You run the surveys and the technical due diligence, manage the civil and electrical engineers, secure the grid, highways and drainage consents, and negotiate the legal agreements that sit behind them. You hand the design team verified site inputs and approved engineering designs, and you tell the founders early what a site will really cost. Get this right and every site builds to budget. Get it wrong and we find out on site.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has exceptional attention to detail.
Core Responsibilities
- Own technical due diligence from heads of terms: set the survey strategy, then procure and interpret topographic, PAS 128 utility, ground investigation, Phase 1 and 2 environmental, arboricultural and drainage surveys.
- Produce the technical constraints report and abnormal cost assessment for every site ahead of site committee.
- Appoint and manage our civil, structural and electrical engineers, and technically approve their designs before tender.
- Lead DNO and IDNO applications, connection offers and HV design approval, and negotiate the legal documents behind them: wayleaves, easements, substation leases and adoption agreements.
- Secure the highways and drainage agreements and consents each site needs, including S278, S104 and S50, and manage them through to adoption.
- Advise on the planning route, discharge the technical planning conditions and secure Building Regulations approval.
- Run the technical programme across all live sites, report weekly to the founders, and answer engineering queries through construction to handover.
What We Value
- Attention to detail. You spot the missing manhole, the unsurveyed corner and the clause in the connection offer that moves the cost.
- Curiosity on site. You go and look, and you ask the question the desktop study could not answer.
- Speed with judgement. You make the call on incomplete information, state the assumption and move.
- Ownership. A late consent is your problem, whoever is holding it up.
- Commercial judgement. You know what an abnormal costs, and you negotiate with DNOs and highway authorities like it is your money.
- Directness. Clear and brief with engineers, network operators, landlords and founders alike.

What We Require
- 5-7 years in a technical role on small, fast-moving commercial projects: EV charging, forecourts, drive-thru, telecoms, utilities or similar, ideally across a multi-site rollout.
- Proven experience managing civil and electrical engineering design, assessing abnormals and working through S278 and S104 agreements on short programmes.
- Planning expertise: you can read a site’s planning risk from its constraints, and have discharged technical conditions on commercial schemes.
- Strong preference for experience in EV charging and high voltage works, including negotiating DNO and IDNO connection offers and legal documents. ICE, CIHT, IET, CIOB or RICS membership, or CDM knowledge, is a plus. Full UK driving licence.
