At THG Nutrition Manufacturing, we are proud to power some of the world’s leading wellness and sports nutrition brands. Based in Tywyn, Brighter Foods is a key part of our manufacturing network, specialising in the production of high-quality, innovative snack bars and functional food products. THG’s Manufacturing Division operates around the clock across multiple global facilities, delivering safe, effective, and cutting-edge nutrition solutions. This role sits within one of our dedicated satellite sites, where teams work with precision, pace, and pride to consistently deliver outstanding results.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a proactive, experienced Technical Manager to lead food safety, quality assurance, and compliance at our Brighter Foods site in Tywyn – a key part of THG’s global Nutrition Manufacturing network. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in upholding the highest standards across our operations, ensuring that every product we produce is safe, high quality, and meets both regulatory and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the site’s Food Safety and Quality agenda, championing a culture of excellence across all technical functions.
- Own and maintain the Site Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with legislation, customer standards, and best practice.
- Stay informed on emerging trends, changes in regulation, and customer requirements to ensure our standards remain industry-leading.
- Embed a culture of proactive risk assessment and technical integrity, positioning the technical function as a valued and trusted centre of expertise.
- Develop and manage key performance indicators to monitor, challenge, and elevate quality and safety performance across the site.
- Ensure all product batches released to market meet stringent quality and food safety standards.
- Coordinate and lead third-party audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up activity.
- Support new projects from a quality perspective – advising on hygienic design, equipment specification, food contact materials, and cleaning validation.
- Lead and develop a high-performing technical team – conducting regular performance reviews, identifying skills gaps, and supporting ongoing training and development.
- Manage and investigate customer complaints, using appropriate tools and methodologies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in internal and external audits in line with the audit schedule.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote quality awareness across the site.
- Maintain rigorous site hygiene standards, supporting smooth and compliant manufacturing operations.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and leadership to your team – fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

About You – What We’re Looking For:

- A proven track record in Quality Systems Management and technical leadership within food manufacturing.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline such as food science, microbiology, or product safety.
- Strong experience managing third-party audits and technical visits – ideally within a BRC-accredited facility.
- Confident and capable people manager, with a passion for team development and coaching.
- Demonstrated success in driving quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Up-to-date and relevant Food Safety qualifications, including HACCP Level 3 as a minimum.
- Solid working knowledge of:
- BRC and ISO Standards
- QMS certification processes
- Retailer technical standards
- Food manufacturing processes and controls
