Technical Manager - Lighting - Remote - Growing Luxury Lighting Company
A luxury lighting specialist are looking for a Technical Manager to join their growing team. Due to the size of the company the role will have a lot of autonomy and ownership and a chance to really feel a part of something.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys being involved in the detail of bringing great products to market. You’ll work closely with the team helping to take products from initial concept through development, testing and launch, while making sure all of the technical and regulatory details are right.
The Role
You’ll become an important part of the wider product development process, with responsibility for the technical coordination and governance of products throughout their lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development of new lighting products from concept through to production and launch.
- Working closely with designers, suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and ensure products are suitable for manufacture.
- Managing and maintaining technical files, product specifications, test reports and compliance documentation.
- Preparing and reviewing product instructions, packaging information, labelling and customer/web product information.
- Reviewing technical data and identifying issues, gaps or opportunities for improvement, then helping to put appropriate actions in place.
- Supporting product testing, certification and supplier approvals.
- Carrying out product due diligence and ensuring documentation is accurate, complete and up to date.
- Maintaining product data and technical records across relevant internal systems.
- Keeping up to date with relevant UK, EU and US standards, legislation and product safety requirements, and ensuring these are reflected in product development.
- Supporting continuous improvement of product development processes and technical governance.

About You
This company are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in how products are developed and enjoys getting involved in the detail.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in a Product Technologist, Technical Product, Product Development or similar role, ideally within lighting, electrical products, consumer products or a design-led manufacturing environment.
- A good understanding of product development from concept through to production.
- Experience working with technical documentation, specifications, testing and compliance.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing product information and files.
- An understanding of UK and EU product standards and legislation. Knowledge of US requirements would be useful, but the ability and willingness to learn quickly is equally important.
- The confidence to work with suppliers, manufacturers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn technical information into practical actions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the wider team.
