Engineering Manager, Vehicle Dynamics Controls
We are looking for a talented Engineering Manager, Vehicle Dynamics Controls to join our team specializing in Advanced Engineering team for our Cummins Drivetrain & Braking System Business sector in the Nuneaton, United Kingdom.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Lead the development and delivery of advanced braking controls software for commercial vehicle platforms, including ABS, EBS, ESC, brake force distribution, and brake blending functions.
- Provide technical and people leadership to a team of controls, software, and systems engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Drive control strategy definition, requirements development, algorithm design, calibration, simulation, and validation activities to ensure robust product performance.
- Oversee model-based development and simulation activities using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, TruckSim, TruckMaker, and related platforms.
- Ensure braking control systems meet performance, safety, quality, and reliability targets through comprehensive MIL, SIL, HIL, and vehicle-level testing.
- Champion functional safety compliance by guiding development activities in accordance with ISO 26262 and safety-critical software development processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electronics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, validation, functional safety, product management, and suppliers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Lead technical reviews, root cause investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action planning while supporting successful production launch and continuous product improvement.

- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical problem solving across requirements, design, development, validation, and production support.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships and foster a collaborative environment focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Significant experience developing braking controls software, embedded systems, or mechatronic solutions within commercial vehicle or automotive environments.
- Experience leading engineering teams, technical projects, or complex product development programs.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, electro-pneumatic braking systems, control logic development, simulation, calibration, and validation methodologies.
- Experience working with functional safety standards, such as ISO 26262, and embedded software development using languages such as C, C++, or Python.
