Up to £50,000, depending on experience
Would you like to join Hyde as our Technical Manager - Renewable Heating & Solar PV?
We're looking for a technically minded and customer-focused professional to lead the delivery and performance of Hyde's renewable heating, Solar PV and non-gas domestic energy systems across our homes.
This is not a hands-on engineering role. Instead, you'll act as Hyde's technical expert, working with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal teams to ensure our renewable technologies are safe, compliant, effective and delivering the best possible outcomes for residents.
You do not need to hold gas, heating, Solar PV or renewable qualifications to apply. We're interested in individuals with strong technical judgement, contractor management experience and a background in areas such as renewable energy, heat pumps, Solar PV, electrical services, building services, housing maintenance, compliance, technical support, asset management or service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Hyde's sustainability ambitions while ensuring residents receive an excellent service from some of the latest low-carbon technologies.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the technical oversight of Hyde's renewable heating, electrical and low-carbon energy programmes, including Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), Solar PV and other non-gas heating technologies.
- Manage contractors and suppliers to ensure servicing, maintenance, repairs, remedial works and installations are delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed quality standards.
- Review surveys, specifications, technical reports, quotations and recommendations, providing challenge and assurance where required.
- Investigate complex technical issues, recurring faults and customer complaints, identifying practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor contractor performance, customer outcomes, compliance requirements and service standards, driving continuous improvement.
- Use operational data, customer feedback and performance information to identify trends, reduce repeat failures and improve value for money.
- Work closely with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve understanding of renewable technologies.
- Visit properties where required to support investigations, gather evidence and provide technical guidance.
- Keep up to date with legislation, regulatory requirements, industry developments and emerging technologies across renewable heating, Solar PV and decarbonisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
