At Marshalls plc, we believe building tomorrow's world starts with what we can create together today. Since the 1890s, we've grown from a Yorkshire stone business into a leading UK manufacturer of building, roofing, and landscaping solutions. Today, we support the people who design, build, and maintain the homes, schools, hospitals, streets, and infrastructure that communities across the UK rely on. Built on generations of expertise, we're known for quality, innovation, and sustainability, helping our customers bring their vision to life and create places that work today and last for generations. We're proud of our heritage, excited by what's next, and committed to helping our colleagues grow, develop, and make a real difference. Together, we're building tomorrow's world.
Our operations are organized into three distinct divisions: Landscape Products, Building Products, and Roofing Products. Here, in the Building Products division, we are looking for a Technical Manager to join our Technical Team and take responsibility for providing technical leadership across the Water Management concrete manufacturing business.
Manufacturing is where our products come to life, turning innovative designs and engineering expertise into high-quality solutions that support critical infrastructure projects across the UK. Through technical excellence, continuous improvement, and a commitment to innovation, we create robust and reliable precast concrete solutions that give customers confidence in the products they install today and trust will perform for generations to come.
So, what’s the mission?
This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel across our Water Management manufacturing network. The primary locations are Mells, Pollington, and West Lane, and applicants must be suitably located and able to travel regularly between these sites, including at short notice, to support operational and business requirements.
Combining expertise in precast concrete technology, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles, the role ensures products are compliant, fit for purpose, and manufactured through robust, efficient, and repeatable processes. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, New Product Development, Quality, Procurement, and Materials Development teams, the role will drive improvements in product quality, manufacturing performance, cost efficiency, sustainability, and process capability, supporting the continued delivery of industry-leading solutions for our customers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
