Technical Manager (Underground Cabling)

Excellent opportunity to transfer your skills to a leading Tier 1 contractor’s Power and Energy team supporting major Scottish Power and SSEN frameworks.

Salary: £90,000 – £100,000 basic + Car + Bonus + package
Location: Glasgow
Hybrid Working: 2/3 days office / 2/3 days working from home

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor’s Power and Energy division to secure a Technical Manager specialising in Underground Cabling to support a diverse portfolio of SSEN projects across the Highlands and Islands.

The Technical Manager serves as the key technical interface between clients, designers, and project teams. You will oversee planning, design, delivery, and commissioning activities, ensuring technical excellence, safety, and compliance from pre-construction through to final handover. You will provide expert technical guidance during design and installation stages, support tender and bid development, and manage specifications for cable system components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical interface between clients, designers, and contractors, maintaining clear communication and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Provide technical leadership during planning, development, and pre-construction phases, including design coordination and tender/bid support.
  • Guide construction teams through HV/EHV cable and plant installation from pre-construction to project completion.
  • Review technical documents, specifications, and design deliverables, collaborating with designers and managing cable system component specifications.
  • Consult with operational staff, protection engineers, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues and manage design risks.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and environmental compliance in line with company standards and CDM regulations.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Strong understanding of HV/EHV cable technologies and installation methods.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder coordination and maintain effective relationships with clients and subcontractors.
