About the Technical Manager Job

You will be responsible for all technical, specifications and compliance across the site to ensure all products manufactured meet strict safety, quality, legality and customer specifications while driving continuous improvement, managing site technical audits, and maintaining industry certification standards.

Key Tasks

  • Maintain, update, and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, and TACCP plans.
  • Lead site preparation for and hosting of unannounced and announced third-party audits (e.g., BRCGS, and major customer audits).
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for internal non-conformances, customer complaints, and audit findings.
  • Manage customer technical portal submissions, specification approvals, and technical KPI reporting.
  • Foster a robust Food Safety Culture across all site departments through regular training, clear communication, and operational engagement.

About You

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Ideally Level 4 HACCP and Level 4 Food Safety in Manufacturing.
  • Certified Internal/Lead Auditor qualification.
  • 3–5+ years in a Technical Manager or Deputy Technical Manager role within a high-care, high-risk or ambient food manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of managing and achieving top-grade results in BRCGS audits.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK/EU food legislation, labelling requirements, allergen management, and raw material traceability.

More Details

The Technical Manager job (ref 9118) is based in Birmingham and is paying up to £50,000 according to your experience. The working hours are 40 hours per week but with flexibility. After 6 months then there would be the possibility of some working remotely.
