Role Description

Join Allianz UK as our Technical Pricing Manager for Direct Motor and lead the team in the development and maintenance of the claim’s models for one of the company’s largest portfolios.

This role leads a team of 6 FTE and covers all aspects of the technical price build for our Direct Motor products, using leading edge data science techniques as well as traditional GLM methodologies to deliver market leading pricing capability.

Location: This role can be based at any of Allianz’s major offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 50% of your time.

About You

As our Retail Motor Technical Pricing Manager, you’ll:

  • Play a pivotal role in driving forward the technical pricing capability of one of UK's largest motor insurers.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance, development and monitoring of the technical pricing models that underpin more than £1bn of personal lines motor GWP written on aggregator, web and call-centre channels.
  • Enable the team to leverage the power of our recently migrated data assets, working closely with the central data team to ensure the highest possible data quality and that modelling data needs are met.
  • Alongside delivery of regular GBM and GLM model refreshes, you will ensure that the team remain on the cutting edge of risk modelling techniques, working with the Data Science team, and leading the team through regular R&D phases to improve processes, performance and available feature sets.
  • Working in a large global insurer, you will take opportunities to both share your expertise with and take learnings from other pricing teams across the globe, working closely with the Group centre of pricing excellence.

Essential Skills

  • Strong background in volume-lines technical pricing, with knowledge of Machine Learning (GBM) techniques and GLMs.
  • Business-minded and commercially focussed, ideally with prior experience in the UK motor insurance industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire & motivate a team and manage stakeholder relationships within the UK and wider global business.
  • Previous project management/steering experience preferred.

Desirable Skills

  • Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
