Salary range: Grade 7 £38,256 - £39,276 p.a. plus fantastic benefits Contract: Permanent Hours of work: 36 hours per week Location: Croydon

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for service excellence and technical accuracy? Croydon Council is seeking an Accounts Payable Technical Officer to join our dynamic Payments, Revenues, Benefits and Debt team.

About the Role

As an Accounts Payable Technical Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payments across the council. You’ll provide expert technical support, maintain high service standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our Accounts Payable function.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll:

  • Validate and process supplier invoices and payments (BACS, cheques, CHAPS, foreign drafts).
  • Reconcile supplier statements.
  • Provide guidance and support to Data Input Officers and other departments.
  • Conduct quality checks and produce monitoring reports.
  • Support the administration of our Premier Supplier Programme

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Significant experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of the purchase-to-pay process and financial controls.
  • Advanced skills in Oracle (Accounts Payable module), Excel, and Word.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A proactive, professional approach with a commitment to confidentiality, diversity, and data protection.
