Job Description Summary

This is a Full Time, Permanent position. The role involves providing a professional building technical service, responsible for the design, specification, and project management of building construction and/or building services installations for new build, maintenance, and/or refurbishment programmes.

Role & Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring, delivering, and reporting on planned maintenance programmes.
  • Managing specialist statutory servicing contracts and contractors.
  • Overseeing day-to-day reactive maintenance activities.
  • Undertaking condition surveys.
  • Providing technical advice in accordance with current legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Leading on minor mechanical design, refurbishment, and improvement projects.

Candidates must have:

  • A proven and extensive background in mechanical building services engineering and the maintenance, inspection, testing, and statutory compliance of building mechanical systems.
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Appropriate technical and professional qualifications.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Strategy
    • Provide building construction design and maintenance aspects for specific projects.
    • Develop, procure, control, and manage variations for specific contracts.
    • Promote services to develop partnerships, tender bids, and secure contract opportunities.

  1. Customer Focus

    • Provide technical reports, drawings, and project status information.
    • Deliver consultation and support services.
    • Act as an expert witness or support to the legal team.
  2. Performance Management

    • Project manage specific building construction and maintenance feasibility studies.
    • Be an effective member of the Technical services and maintenance team.
  3. Leadership

    • Demonstrate and develop a high level of competence, technical, and specialist knowledge.
    • Act as a champion for key schemes.
  4. Statutory Obligations

    • Carry out operational activities within the parameters of the service delivery plan.
    • Undertake building condition surveys and statutory building insurance inspections.
  5. Financial Responsibility

    • Implement and monitor the capital and revenue budgets for building construction and maintenance feasibility studies.
  6. Process Responsibility

    • Deliver consultation and support services.
    • Carry out duties of a CDM Advisor on appropriate building construction and maintenance projects.
