About The Role

Salary: £31,860 per annum

For this role, you must be willing to work night shifts and weekends as per operational and technical team requirements.

  • Night rate from 02:00 hours to 06:00 hours Monday - Saturday: One third time extra

Your Experience And Skills

In this role, you will provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team, undertake various technical inspections and activities revolving around areas such as structure and gauging management, track geometry, testing, measurement of S&C, stressing, investigations, and subsequent analysis of technical data, providing information to relevant departments for onward processing.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans, and other instructions.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the provision of technical support.
  • Assist in undertaking technical inspections, tests, investigations, and analysis of technical data.
  • Assist with the preparation of method statements and/or plans for design or work activities where required.
  • Provide information and accurately update systems, databases, and records.
  • Contribute to your own development and that of others.

In Addition To The Above, You Will

  • Manage and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
  • Undertake and supervise technical tasks, survey, and design work.
  • Undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations, and analysis of technical data.
  • Prioritise work arising with fellow technical team and agree work plans for the group.
  • Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment.

Essential Criteria

  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
  • Ideally hold or be working towards an NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) in an engineering/leadership subject.
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of track technical support activities and techniques, such as platform gauging, structure and clearance management, and surveying methods, as well as basic knowledge of the railway infrastructure and its operation.
  • Already hold any railway-based competencies such as PTS.
