Quantitative Operations Analyst

Our client is a globally recognised systematic investment manager operating across quantitative equities, alternative risk premia and multi-asset strategies. Managing significant institutional assets for pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and other global investors, they utilise cutting-edge technology, data science and quantitative research to drive investment decisions.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Quantitative Operations Analyst to join a high-performing Operations team sitting at the intersection of Investments, Technology, Data and Trading.

This is a highly technical operations role suited to candidates who enjoy solving complex problems, automating processes and working with large data sets within a fast-paced investment environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for the oversight, control and optimisation of critical front-to-back investment processes supporting systematic trading and portfolio management activities.

Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Quant Researchers, Technology, Trading, Data Engineering and external service providers, you will help ensure the integrity of investment data, trading activity, portfolio valuations and operational workflows across multiple global strategies.

The role offers significant exposure to quantitative investing, large-scale data environments, automation initiatives and operational process engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Trade Operations

  • Monitor and manage daily operational workflows supporting global portfolios.
  • Investigate and resolve portfolio, trade, position and cash breaks.
  • Oversee trade lifecycle events from execution through settlement.
  • Perform reconciliation across OMS, custodians, brokers and internal systems.
  • Monitor portfolio rebalances and systematic trading activity.
  • Support new instrument and market onboarding initiatives.
  • Maintain operational controls across equity, futures, FX and derivative products.

Data & Analytics

  • Validate large volumes of investment and market data.
  • Investigate pricing, benchmark, security master and reference data exceptions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on data quality issues.
  • Support investment teams with data investigations and analytics requests.
  • Build monitoring frameworks to identify operational anomalies and exceptions.
  • Analyse operational KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.

Automation & Process Engineering

  • Design and develop automated operational workflows.
  • Build tools to eliminate manual processes and reduce operational risk.
  • Partner with Technology teams on system enhancements and process optimisation.
  • Create scalable solutions for reconciliations, exception management and reporting.
  • Develop operational dashboards and management information reporting.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Quant Researchers and Traders.
  • Engage with brokers, custodians, administrators and market vendors.
  • Participate in operational governance and control forums.
  • Support operational due diligence and audit activities.
  • Contribute to strategic change programmes and technology implementations.

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Advanced SQL.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Advanced Excel including Power Query and VBA.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Data manipulation and automation experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of databases and relational data structures.
  • Experience working with APIs and automated data feeds.
  • Exposure to cloud-based or enterprise data environments.

Highly Desirable

  • Bloomberg Terminal.
  • Python Libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Polars, SciPy).
  • Power BI or Tableau.
  • Alteryx.
  • Git / GitHub.
  • Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Snowflake, Databricks or similar data platforms.
  • Experience with FIX messaging, OMS or EMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of market data vendors and financial data architecture.

Experience Required

1-5 years of experience within:

  • Investment Operations
  • Quantitative Operations
  • Trading Operations
  • Fund Operations
  • Data Operations
  • Middle Office
  • Investment Technology

Experience supporting systematic, quantitative or data-driven investment strategies is highly advantageous.

Exposure to asset management, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms or institutional investment environments preferred.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a related quantitative discipline.
  • CFA, CQF, IMC or further quantitative study advantageous.
  • Strong academic background with evidence of analytical excellence.
