Technical Operations Manager

Primal Strength | Distribution Centre, Paisley

We Raise the Bar. And we need you to help spot us.

WHO WE ARE

PRIMAL are market-leading suppliers in the strength and fitness sector, with a global reach and customer base. Our core belief is that strength is in us all, and our purpose is to equip everybody to realise their full potential. We serve everyone from home-gym owners and PTs to full turnkey solutions for national gym chains, professional sports teams and commercial office training spaces with world class gym equipment.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are on the hunt for an experienced Technical Operations Manager to run our Technical Service team out of the Distribution Centre in Paisley. This isn't (just) a desk job — we need someone who can lead a team, manage systems AND get their hands dirty on the shop floor when it counts. You'll oversee everything from returns and refurb of top tier gym equipment, to pre-builds and parts inventory, keeping our technical operation running tight, safe, and efficient.

What you'll be doing

Team & department leadership

  • Managing the Technical Service team — Primal is powered by good people, and you need to get the best from our best, inspiring and encouraging our three team members in the Technical team.
  • You'll also handle workload planning and scheduling, manage performance and regular people matters.
  • You'll live our values - you'll Raise the Bar, Keep Pushing and Spot Each Other.
  • You'll take chaos, chew it up and turn it into calm. Good. Vibes. Only.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Technical & warehouse operations

  • You'll be overseeing pre-builds of gym equipment ahead of dispatch / installation.
  • You'll manage local product fault visits to fix up any problems our customers have.
  • You'll manage returns processing - including reviewing the physical returns and any refurb on faulty units.
  • You'll handle cannibalised stock and rejuvenation thereof - ensuring that where we have to take parts from new products, we make sure we replace them to make units whole again.
  • You'll oversee the parts inventory, ensuring that we have sufficient stock of spare parts, and an orderly flow for pick, pack and dispatch.
  • You'll have direct contact with our manufacturing partners where needed to obtain parts.
  • As part of our DC management team, you'll cover broader warehouse operations when needed.
  • You'll be adept with the systems side of things - you'll be in our ERP and our Warehouse Management System (WMS) daily, managing transaction and order flow.

Facilities & compliance

  • Keeping it safe - make sure our team are always operating safely and by the book - and leading accident investigations and making sure corrective actions actually happen.

Projects & Process Improvements

  • We're good, we're ambitious, but you're not coming into the finished article - we need someone who can also figure out how to keep building a better plane whilst flying it (sometimes through turbulence, but always on an upward trajectory!).
  • As part of that, you'll be leading or contributing to departmental projects — from process improvements to new kit and system rollouts.
