We are working with a well-established and growing independent financial planning firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Paraplanner to its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paraplanner who enjoys the technical side of financial planning and wants to join a professional, supportive environment where quality of advice and client service are at the heart of the business.

Working closely with experienced Financial Advisers, you’ll provide comprehensive technical support across a varied client portfolio, undertaking detailed research, analysis and report writing to help deliver high-quality financial planning solutions.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed suitability reports and supporting documentation.
  • Undertaking technical research and analysis based on individual client circumstances.
  • Supporting Advisers in developing appropriate financial planning recommendations.
  • Carrying out complex calculations and analysis, including CGT, IHT and pension-related calculations.
  • Working across a broad range of investments, pensions and tax-planning solutions.
  • Reviewing existing client arrangements, including product features, benefits and the implications of proposed changes.
  • Using financial planning and industry software to undertake comparisons and detailed technical analysis.
  • Ensuring client files and documentation meet internal compliance standards and FCA requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and managing ongoing cases through the firm’s back-office system.
  • Working closely with Advisers and colleagues to ensure cases progress efficiently and clients receive a consistently high level of service.

What We’re Looking For

This position would suit an established Paraplanner with strong technical knowledge who is comfortable managing detailed and sometimes complex cases. Ideally, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Paraplanning role.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS) or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of the end-to-end financial advice process.
  • Experience producing suitability reports and undertaking technical research.
  • Strong knowledge across pensions, investments and tax planning.
  • Experience with more complex planning areas would be advantageous, including trusts, IHT planning, EIS/VCT, business relief investments, offshore/onshore bonds and SIPP/SSAS arrangements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and financial services-specific systems.

Candidates who are working towards, or have ambitions to achieve, Chartered status would be particularly well suited to the opportunity.

Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a salary from £40,000 and upwards, with flexibility depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
