Technical Portfolio and Data Support Officer
Salary: £44,642 to £52,519 + up to 6% bonus
Location: Hybrid in any of Lancaster / Preston / Warrington / Warwick / Bristol

About the role
Are you passionate about data, Power BI, and turning complex project information into clear, actionable insight? We are looking for a Technical Portfolio & Data Analyst to join our Rotating Machinery & Cabs team and play a key role in managing and reporting a significant technical project portfolio.
This role combines data analysis, portfolio management, project controls, and technical administration. You will develop and maintain Power BI, Excel, and SharePoint solutions that provide visibility of project cost, forecast, progress, risks, actions, contracts, and delivery performance.
You will work closely with engineering, project management, operations, finance, procurement, and commercial stakeholders across the Rotating Machinery & Cabs teams.

This role provides the insight, governance, and reporting needed to enable effective decision-making across a complex technical project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
What you'll be doing
- Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and management information for the technical portfolio.
- Tracking the Compressor Breakdown Budget, including budget, actual expenditure, commitments, forecast, and variance.
- Maintaining the T3 CAPEX Project Portfolio for Rotating Machinery & Cabs.
- Tracking project budgets, milestones, risks, issues, actions, and delivery status.
- Developing Excel-based portfolio, financial, and project tracking tools.
- Maintaining SharePoint sites, registers, project information, and document structures.
- Providing project document-control support, including document registers, revisions, approvals, and close-out information.
- Maintaining the PDSA contract portfolio and tracking contract values, expenditure, key dates, renewals, and actions.
- Producing regular portfolio reports, dashboards, and governance information for management.
- Identifying data quality issues, trends, variances, and potential delivery risks and escalating them appropriately.
- Improving and simplifying existing processes through automation, standardisation, and better use of digital tools.

What you'll bring
We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised, and commercially aware, with the ability to work confidently with technical and project teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in project, programme, portfolio, technical, engineering, data, or business-support environments.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with data.
- Demonstrable experience tracking project portfolios, budgets, milestones, or performance.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and improving processes.
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Power BI experience is highly desirable.
- A qualification or formal training in Power BI, data analysis, project management, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
- Experience with SharePoint and Power Automate would also be advantageous.
- Experience within engineering, energy, utilities, infrastructure, or another technical environment would be advantageous.
