We're hiring: Technical Pre-Sales Engineer β Construction (Asta) ποΈ
Are you a technically curious SaaS professional who loves getting under the skin of a customer's challenges and showing them exactly how technology can solve them?
Eleco is looking for a Technical Pre-Sales Engineer to join our Construction team, based in Haddenham. You'll be the technical expert within the sales process for Asta, our construction planning and project management platform, helping prospects and customers see its full value. From first discovery conversation through to a signed deal. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role combining SaaS pre-sales experience, construction and planning understanding, and genuine technical curiosity.
Reporting to the Head of Sales β Construction
You'll work hand-in-hand with Sales, Product Management, Professional Services, Support and Development to build customer confidence, progress opportunities and solve real-world challenges in construction.
What you'll be doing:
Customer engagement & sales support
- Partnering with Sales throughout the opportunity lifecycle, providing technical expertise from discovery through to solution validation and close
- Leading customer discovery to understand planning processes, challenges, technical requirements and the wider technology environment
- Designing and delivering tailored, engaging demonstrations that show how Asta can address real customer challenges and create business value
- Translating customer requirements into the right Asta solution, and providing technical input into RFIs, tenders, proposals and integration discussions

Solutions & technical expertise
- Developing strong expertise across the Asta platform, including Powerproject, Vision and associated solutions
- Exploring customer technology environments, data and integration requirements, including APIs, reporting and BI where relevant
- Building demonstration environments, workflows and proof-of-concept solutions that bring customer use cases to life
- Working with Product, Development, Professional Services and Support to resolve technical questions and shape the right solution
- Staying current with developments in construction technology, planning software, cloud technology and AI
Product, marketing & enablement
- Feeding customer insight, technical requirements and market feedback into Product Management
- Supporting Marketing with webinars, events, videos and other technical content
- Providing product and technical enablement to Sales and other internal teams
- Representing Eleco and Asta at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a Pre-Sales Engineer, Solutions Consultant or similar customer-facing SaaS role
- Strong customer discovery, presentation and demonstration skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving ability and curiosity to learn complex software and explore new solutions
- Comfortable working with Windows-based business applications and modern software environments
- Commercially minded, with the ability to translate technical capability into compelling customer value

It would also be great (but isn't essential) if you have:
- Construction, civil engineering or construction technology experience, with good planning and scheduling literacy
- Experience with planning software β Primavera P6 knowledge would be advantageous, and Asta Powerproject experience is a plus
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools, SQL, APIs and integration concepts
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, SSO or similar cloud identity technologies
- Practical experience using AI tools, including effective prompting and an eye for business use cases

π Location & hours
Hybrid, based in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, with time split between the office, remote work and customer visits, plus occasional travel to other locations as required. 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility depending on business needs.
