Role Overview

STYLPRO is a fast-growing beauty technology brand focused on solving real consumer problems with high-performance beauty technology designed for real life. We are looking for a hands-on, disciplined Technical Product Development Manager to develop, improve, and deliver technically led consumer Products, covering both new Product Development and the systematic improvement of existing Products. The focus is execution, technical performance, quality, and getting Products reliably across the line.

This is not primarily a project management role. We need somebody with genuine electronics/hardware Product Development experience who can work directly with factories and engineers, challenge technical proposals, and solve practical Product problems. They should be disciplined about agreed requirements and delivery, while flexible about the technical route used to achieve the agreed Product Intent.

The ideal person will have a strong technical foundation in electronics, hardware engineering, or equivalent hands-on consumer electronic development experience. Beauty experience is useful but not essential; strong ideas and methods from other technical consumer categories are welcome. The role works closely with our Head of Product Development, who owns the overall Product Development function, technical direction, and Development process.

Main Responsibilities

• Own assigned Products through Development
  • Take day-to-day ownership of assigned Products from agreed Product Intent/Feature List through Development, production, and launch.
  • Translate Product Intent into clear PRDs, specifications, and Development requirements.
  • Manage prototypes, samples, supplier actions, tooling, and production readiness.
  • Make sensible day-to-day Development decisions within agreed Product, cost, performance, and timing boundaries, escalating major trade-offs when required. Own actions through to closure and keep the Product moving.
• Be a hands-on technical Product Developer
  • Work directly with engineers and suppliers across electronics, PCBs, LEDs, batteries, power management, sensors, firmware, Bluetooth, heating/cooling, microcurrent, and other Product-specific technologies.
  • Understand and challenge supplier proposals, spot weaknesses and risks, and help solve technical Product problems. Look outside beauty where useful for proven technologies and engineering solutions.
  • The person does not need to personally design every PCB or component, but must have enough engineering understanding to ask the right questions and know when a solution is not good enough.
• Improve existing Products as well as develop new ones
  • Investigate recurring Product problems, complaints, and returns and work with suppliers to identify root causes, corrective actions, and preventive actions. Use evidence and testing to confirm that corrective actions have actually solved the issue.
  • Proactively improve performance, reliability, usability, components, materials, manufacturing quality, and cost, with sensible change control so improvements do not introduce new risks.
  • Support next-generation versions of successful Products so STYLPRO continues moving ahead rather than waiting for competitors to catch up.
• Deliver More, by Design
  • Protect the original customer benefit as Products move from concept into engineering and production. Technology should be used where it creates meaningful performance, results, usability, reliability, versatility, convenience, or value - not simply because it can be added.
• Work directly with Chinese factories and suppliers
  • Manage day-to-day Product Development with Chinese OEM/ODM factories, component suppliers, and engineering partners.
  • Drive feasibility, quotations, samples, Development actions, technical corrections, and timing.
  • Challenge suppliers where their proposal does not meet the Product requirement and maintain momentum through Development.
  • Travel to China and other supplier locations where useful.
  • Mandarin/Cantonese is useful but not essential. Strong experience successfully developing physical consumer Products with Chinese factories is important.
• Develop Products to achieve agreed performance
  • Work with the Head of Product Development and internal/external testing resources, including the future Product Performance/Test & Validation capability, to make sure Products achieve agreed technical targets.
  • Depending on the Product, this may include wavelength, irradiance, optical output, energy/dose, temperature, pressure, cooling, battery performance, coverage, durability, and reliability.
  • Make sure verification, validation, and practical Product testing happen early enough to improve the Product rather than simply test it at the end, and use results to drive corrections and production readiness.
• Build Claims, Compliance, and commercial requirements into Development
  • Understand the agreed Claims ambition, Product safety, Compliance requirements, and intended markets and make sure they are reflected in the Product, PRD, and Development plan from the start.
  • Recognize when Product changes may affect previous evidence, safety assessments, or testing. The role is not Compliance specialist, but should know when review is required.
  • Develop Products within agreed RRP, COG, margin, tooling, MOQ, and launch timing, making sensible trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, complexity, and speed.
  • Support technically demanding and future US Product programmes. US consumer Product launch experience is desirable. FDA/regulated Product Development experience would be a strong advantage but is not essential.
• Support production, launch, and lifecycle improvement
  • Support tooling, pilot production, and mass-production readiness and make sure production matches the approved Product specification. Identify manufacturing and quality risks early and resolve production issues.
  • Provide Product information and technical support needed by Sales, Marketing, and other teams ahead of launch.
  • Remain involved after launch where Product issues, supplier changes, or improvement opportunities require Development input.
