Location: London (Hybrid, 1-2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £60,000 + Benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Probation: 6 Months
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to lead the development and delivery of backend and API-driven products. This role sits between business and engineering, ensuring that client requirements are translated into scalable technical solutions while driving successful product delivery.
You will work closely with stakeholders, clients, and engineering teams, managing development pods of up to 20 engineers and owning the product roadmap from concept through to delivery. This is a hands-on position requiring both strong technical understanding and commercial awareness, enabling you to make informed decisions around priorities, architecture, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and translate business requirements into clear technical product specifications.
- Define and manage product roadmaps, feature priorities, and product backlogs.
- Lead agile delivery teams and development pods, ensuring effective collaboration and execution.
- Facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with engineering teams on API design, data models, and system architecture.
- Make technical trade-off decisions balancing business value, engineering effort, scalability, and technical debt.
- Review technical specifications and architecture proposals to ensure alignment with product goals.
- Collaborate with frontend, backend, DevOps, and stakeholder teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Define and report on product KPIs, success metrics, and performance outcomes.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, communicate progress, and mitigate delivery risks and dependencies.
- Support and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience
- 2-3 years' experience in Technical Product Management, ideally focused on backend systems and APIs.
- Previous hands-on experience as a Software Engineer or Backend Developer.
- Strong experience working within Agile environments and leading engineering delivery teams.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, API versioning, and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases, and data modelling.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and software release processes.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, API security, and authentication best practices.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman.
- Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
