Technical Product Manager, AI Systems

Futureheads have exclusively partnered with a fully-funded, early-stage AI startup on a mission to fix one of the most outdated parts of everyday life: how we communicate. They're building a genuinely new kind of voice and text application - proactive, intelligent, and actually useful, not another chatbot. Think "Cursor for All."

Backed by a hugely successful, profitable financial services group with a presence across five global markets and zero external funding, and with $100m already committed, they're now building a founding team of ~15 world-class people from scratch, working globally from day one. This is a rare shot at real founding-team equity, working directly with the Founder/Technical Lead, on a product with genuine global ambition.

The Role

This is a deeply technical, hands-on Product role sitting right at the intersection of AI capability, engineering reality, and real user needs. You'll work directly with the Founder/Technical Lead and sit shoulder-to-shoulder with ML and backend engineers - wrestling with trade-offs between quality, latency, cost and reliability, and turning genuinely hard problems into product decisions that ship. You won't be writing specs from the sidelines.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Define end-to-end AI system requirements - from model capability through to real user impact
  • Translate evaluation results and data constraints into clear product and engineering decisions
  • Build and evolve evaluation frameworks across offline metrics, live experiments and human feedback
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with ML, backend and mobile engineers on system design and iteration
  • Own product quality end-to-end: correctness, predictability, and user trust
  • Drive execution through sharp specs, strong judgement, and relentless prioritisation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What They're Looking For

This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage a roadmap from a distance. They want someone who can genuinely go deep - technically fluent, comfortable with ambiguity, and hungry to build something from zero.

You'll likely have:

  • A strong grounding in CS fundamentals - algorithms, data structures, system design
  • Solid ML fundamentals and a real understanding of how AI systems behave in production
  • Hands-on experience with LLM-based products, model evaluation, and prompt/pipeline iteration
  • A sharp intuition for where models break - hallucination, bias, drift - and how to design around it
  • A track record owning complex, technical products end-to-end, working closely with senior engineers
  • The judgement to make good calls fast, in a fast-moving, still-being-defined environment

Nice to have: experience shipping AI-heavy consumer products, a background as an engineer or highly technical PM, or prior zero-to-one experience.

Just as important as the CV is the mindset. This team looks for what they call the "7H traits": Head (real intellectual horsepower), Hands (builder, not just strategist), Hustle (thrives on fast-moving, evolving problems), Humility (honest and direct), Heart (genuinely passionate), Hunger (internally driven, works hard because they want to), and Habits (self-organised and disciplined). What matters most is substance over pedigree - proven, hands-on depth counts for more than a big-name logo on the CV.

The Practical Bits

  • Location: Fully remote - work from anywhere, all year round
  • Team: Joining a founding team of ~15, reporting directly to the Technical Lead/Founder
  • Compensation: Uncapped for the right candidate. Cash and equity combined, with genuine founding-team equity upside - this is not a role with a salary ceiling
  • Process: 3–4 interviews, with a fast, transparent decision at the end

This kind of opportunity - real budget, real equity, real influence, at the ground floor of a genuinely ambitious AI product - doesn't come around often. If that's you, let's talk.
