Contract: 12 Months Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £56,626
Location: London (hybrid)
Application Closing Date: 11 October 2026
Job Purpose
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to work on the build of and migration to a new front end platform for BMJ’s journals, aiming to improve reader experience, platform performance and accessibility.
The role operates primarily in delivery, but will also contribute to discovery aspects of the product development process. Key tasks include planning and prioritising work within sprints for the technical team, coordinating cross-functional teams, measuring performance and impact of migrated journals and pages, and assessing feasibility of the new platform for serving article pages.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with all stakeholders to consider their needs for the development of all pages in the new decoupled front end platform.
- Regular and open communication with stakeholders, including but not limited to the Publishing & Events product team, engineering team, publishing team, editorial team, UX designers, marketing team, external suppliers such as Highwire and Coforge.
- Help lead sprint ceremonies, including the daily stand-up, backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospective meetings.
- Managing the backlog - develop scope, define backlog items, and prioritise depending on user need and business requirements.
- Serve as the voice of our users - both internal users of the CMS, and external users of the pages themselves.
- Evaluating product success, measuring whether delivered changes achieve agreed outcomes.
- Deliver product vision, strategy and goals set out by Reader Experience PM.
- Triaging bugs and errors, and working with affected stakeholders in order to prioritise resolutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
