Technical Production Manager

Location: Surrey, UK (Hybrid working with international travel)

As we continue to grow our global delivery team, we're looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our Technical Production team and play a key role in delivering exceptional live events and exhibition experiences around the world.

As a Technical Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading or supporting the technical delivery of live events, conferences, exhibitions and experiential projects across our global client portfolio.

  • Work closely with Creative, Project Management and Production teams to translate creative concepts into technically achievable solutions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and to the highest possible standard.
  • From detailed pre-production planning and supplier management through to onsite technical leadership, you'll be a trusted technical expert who thrives on problem-solving, collaboration and delivering exceptional event experiences.

What you'll be doing

Technical Production Leadership

  • Provide technical production expertise across a variety of live events, conferences and exhibitions
  • Interpret project briefs and develop detailed technical production plans and delivery strategies
  • Collaborate with creative and project teams to ensure concepts are delivered effectively within budget parameters
  • Lead production schedules, technical planning and resource allocation across multiple projects
  • Work directly with producers, designers and project teams to identify practical and innovative delivery solutions

Supplier & Crew Management

  • Manage technical suppliers, freelancers and production partners throughout the project lifecycle
  • Source and secure appropriate equipment, materials and specialist resources
  • Lead supplier negotiations and procurement processes to achieve the best value for clients
  • Prepare, review and assess supplier RFPs and quotations
  • Maintain and develop a strong network of trusted suppliers and technical crew

Onsite Delivery

  • Lead technical delivery onsite, including build-up, live show operations and breakdown
  • Manage onsite personnel, suppliers and technical teams to ensure flawless execution
  • Conduct site visits, venue inspections and client walkthroughs
  • Monitor the installation of staging, scenic and technical elements to ensure quality and safety standards are met
  • Troubleshoot challenges and implement solutions in fast-paced live environments

Financial & Operational Management

  • Support budget development and financial management across technical production workstreams
  • Ensure projects remain commercially viable while maintaining delivery excellence
  • Manage supplier contracts and monitor project costs
  • Contribute to client proposals, pitches and technical recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Head of Technical Production to continually improve processes, systems and ways of working

Compliance & Best Practice

  • Ensure all technical delivery complies with health and safety, fire and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain awareness of customs regulations relating to international transportation of technical equipment and materials
  • Champion quality standards across all projects and onsite environments
  • Promote best practice and continuous improvement across the wider team

What you will bring

  • Significant experience delivering technical production for live events, conferences, exhibitions or experiential projects
  • Strong understanding of event technology, AV, staging, scenic builds and production disciplines
  • Experience managing technical suppliers, freelance crews and production partners
  • Proven ability to deliver projects to deadline and budget
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience using AutoCAD and other technical design or drafting tools
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
  • Ability to remain calm, solutions-focused and decisive under pressure
  • A collaborative approach and passion for delivering exceptional live experiences

Other Requirements

  • Quiet home environment from which to work (although the successful candidate will be required to be office based 1 day a week and have the ability to travel to the office to aid team collaboration or meet client needs when additionally needed).
  • Minimum of 25MB download / 2MB upload home broadband speed (for home working).
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally throughout the year.
