Overview

The Global Lease organization is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to join a new global team focused on improving the performance of Microsoft’s leased datacenter portfolio. This leader will build and sustain a high-performance culture, develop scalable systems and processes, and collaborate with cross-functional leaders, internal stakeholders, and lessors to deliver measurable business value. The role will drive portfolio-wide strategies and programs that strengthen accountability, transparency, operational maturity, and overall performance. It offers a high-impact opportunity to shape how Microsoft scales its leased datacenter partnerships worldwide while creating a more consistent and strategic experience in our Leased data center portfolio.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters in 34 countries, supported by over 165,000 miles of fiber optic cable. These facilities form the backbone of Microsoft Azure and are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

With environmental sustainability and optimization at the forefront of our datacenter design and operations, and the overarching Microsoft mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, we have ambitious plans to grow and evolve as we meet the ever-changing and ever-increasing business demands that position Microsoft as a world-class provider. Underpinning these business imperatives, our culture is centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day.

Within CO+I, the Cloud Infrastructure Acquisition team is accountable for the delivery of our cloud infrastructure, which has scaled significantly in the past five years, through building our own data centers and leasing data centers through third parties. Due to the scale and pace of our growth, we are exploring new and exciting ways to manage and develop our business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end program definition and execution for global lease portfolio performance, translating business, operational, and market needs into clear program goals, prioritized deliverables, and measurable outcomes across Cloud Operations and Innovation and partner teams.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, finance, and other stakeholders to design and evolve the architecture, processes, and integrated solutions that support datacenter lease lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with strategy, risk, compliance, and performance objectives.
  • Drive portfolio performance management by defining and monitoring key performance indicators, using data and insights to identify gaps, inform decisions, and continuously improve accountability, transparency, and operational maturity across the leased datacenter portfolio.
  • Orchestrate complex, cross-functional initiatives and roadmaps across global boundaries, managing dependencies and schedules, proactively mitigating risks, and ensuring cohesive execution that supports both lessor relationships and internal business objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement of tools, workflows, and support processes related to lease portfolio management, enabling scalable, reliable, and efficient operations at global datacenter scale.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
