Job Title: Project Engineer - Digital Engineering / Software Engineering

Location: Reading - Hybrid
Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension Potential)
Rate: £530 - £570 per day (Inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical activities across software, systems, and platform engineering teams.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between engineering functions and delivery management.
  • Monitor project execution, technical risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Support the development and maintenance of project plans, technical roadmaps, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical leadership and first-line technical decision-making.
  • Manage technical interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate technical reviews, governance activities, and milestone assessments.
  • Support project reporting, forecasting, and performance monitoring activities.
  • Ensure engineering activities adhere to agreed processes, standards, and governance requirements.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects within Aerospace, Defence, MOD, or Defence Digital environments.
  • Strong background within software engineering, systems development, or digital engineering environments.
  • Experience working within Software Factory, software delivery, or engineering delivery functions.
  • Solid understanding of technical governance, project controls, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, working across customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
