Technical Project Manager — SAP BW & BusinessObjects Cloud Migration

Day Rate: £550–700 per day (Outside IR35)
Location: Fully remote
Duration: ASAP start through March 2027
Hours: Must align comfortably with European, Asian, and Australian working hours
Engagement: Day rate contract

Az-Tec Talent is partnered with a global consultancy working with a leading engineering group on a day-rate contract for a Technical Project Manager to lead a complex, multi-party SAP BW and BusinessObjects cloud migration within their Software Solutions division.

About the Role

Our client is a global business operating across multiple divisions, including a newly formed Software Solutions division built through recent acquisitions — a strategic shift towards AI-based software products. As part of this transition, they're migrating their on-premises SAP BW and BusinessObjects environment (currently hosted by a third-party vendor overseas) into a cloud setup split across SAP and Azure, with their systems integrator managing the Azure-hosted portion.

This is a genuinely complex piece of coordination. Four organisations — the client, the systems integrator, SAP, and the incumbent hosting vendor — all need to work to the same plan, and each will have its own priorities. We're looking for someone who can sit in the middle of that and keep it moving efficiently, holding all four parties to a single delivery plan.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the project plan, risk log, and issues log for the migration, keeping all four parties honest against it
  • Chair and drive steering group and working group sessions, making sure decisions actually get made rather than deferred
  • Coordinate across the client, systems integrator, SAP, and hosting vendor so dependencies, blockers, and timelines stay visible and managed
  • Act as the single point of accountability for delivery, reporting into the client's leadership team
  • Escalate early and clearly when something is off track, rather than letting it drift
  • Keep the tone calm and constructive across stakeholders, even when parties disagree

What's Needed

  • A strong, experienced project manager, comfortable running multi-party technical programmes
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise-wide digital transformation projects
  • Strong understanding of SAP environments (ideally SAP BW and/or BusinessObjects) — enough to coordinate credibly and hold your own in technical conversations. This is a coordination and delivery role rather than a hands-on technical one; architectural guidance is available internally
  • Excellent stakeholder management — able to hold your own with senior people across four different organisations
  • The presence, gravitas, and authority to say no, push back, and hold people to deadlines without creating unnecessary friction
  • A calm, steady, solution-oriented style
  • Comfortable operating tactically day to day while keeping sight of the overall plan
  • Availability across European, Asian, and Australian time zones
