Technical Project Manager - Financial / Banking - Hybrid - Outside IR35

You will drive Agile delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder engagement.

The position is ideal for an experienced Technical Project Manager with strong delivery leadership, technical understanding, and enterprise programme management experience.

Technical Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex technology programmes and product releases across multiple teams and business domains.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, release plans, milestones, budgets, and delivery schedules.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver scalable technology solutions.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and cross-team planning sessions.
  • Manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and escalations (RAID), ensuring timely mitigation and executive visibility.
  • Coordinate release planning, testing, operational readiness, deployment, and post-release support activities.
  • Monitor delivery KPIs and programme metrics to improve execution and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with technology governance, security, and operational standards.
  • Foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence across technical teams.
  • Communicate programme progress, risks, and delivery status to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.

Technical Project Manager Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale technology programmes and projects within complex enterprise environments.
  • Minimum five years' experience in Technology Programme or Project Management.
  • Experience delivering cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Experience With The American Express (AMEX) Ecosystem Is Preferred.
  • Strong experience managing end-to-end project delivery using Agile methodologies including Scrum and SAFe.
  • Experience managing integrated project planning, release planning, testing, deployment, operational readiness, and business change.
  • Strong RAID management experience covering risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and escalations.
  • Experience delivering technology modernisation, platform transformation, cloud migration, or legacy system decommissioning projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of software development lifecycles, enterprise architecture, systems integration, and technology delivery.
  • Experience working with multiple technical teams and cross-functional delivery squads.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Experience using Jira, Rally, and Confluence or similar Agile delivery tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities.
  • Experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve programme reporting and delivery visibility would be advantageous.
  • Scrum Master (CSM/PSM), SAFe, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project management certifications would be beneficial.
