Job Title: Technical Project Manager – Fundamental AI Research

Location: London, UK (King’s Cross – Hybrid, 3 days on-site)
Position Type: Contract / Contingent Worker
Salary: £70,990 per year

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to join a world-class Fundamental AI Research organization. This team is dedicated to advancing the state of artificial intelligence by making foundational breakthroughs in machine learning systems, large language models (LLMs), and Advanced Machine Intelligence.

In this role, you will act as the vital "oil in the system" for a high-velocity, cutting-edge research team. Sitting directly alongside world-class researchers and engineers, you will ensure that all tactical needs are met, resources are optimized, and blockers are cleared. This role offers an exceptional career pivot for a candidate with a strong technical background in AI/ML (e.g., recent Master's or PhD graduates) looking to transition into program management without losing touch with frontier research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Coordination & Unblocking: Triage fast-moving daily challenges on-site in London. Proactively identify dependencies across workstreams and eliminate operational blockers for researchers and engineers.
  • Tactical Project Execution: Maintain Gantt-style tracking of timelines, coordinate progress across sub-teams, and assist researchers in writing project milestones and updates.
  • Resource & Capacity Management: Ensure research teams have the compute and hardware resources (e.g., GPUs) required to execute complex training runs and experiments.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the central point of contact between engineering teams and cross-functional partners (Legal, Policy, Risk, Communications) to facilitate data usage reviews and streamline open-sourcing initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management & Alignment: Build strong, trusted relationships across the organization—supporting junior team members while navigating complex dynamics with senior staff.
  • Data-Driven Reporting: Translate team progress, risks, and mitigations into clear metrics and updates for cross-functional leadership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
