Overview
We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to join the Technical Operations Department and drive delivery across IT, internal tooling, infrastructure, networking, enterprise software, and security engineering projects.
This role will sit at the intersection of engineering, IT, security, operations, and business teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for turning ambiguous operational needs into structured delivery plans, coordinating technical stakeholders, managing dependencies, tracking risks, and ensuring projects land effectively across the organisation.
This is a hands-on project management role in a start-up environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable bringing structure without adding unnecessary bureaucracy, able to work with technical teams in depth, and capable of operating in a security-conscious defence context.
Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Own the planning, coordination, and delivery of technical operations projects across IT, internal tooling, infrastructure, networking, enterprise software, and security engineering.
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear project scopes, milestones, timelines, and delivery plans.
- Drive projects from discovery through implementation, rollout, and operational handover.
- Manage cross-functional dependencies between engineering, security, IT, operations, facilities, finance, procurement, and leadership stakeholders.
- Track project risks, blockers, decisions, and actions, ensuring issues are surfaced and resolved quickly.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders through concise updates, dashboards, reports, and delivery reviews.
IT, Internal Tooling & Enterprise Software
- Manage projects related to internal systems, enterprise software, SaaS tools, identity and access management, device management, onboarding/offboarding tooling, and productivity platforms.
- Support the selection, implementation, integration, and rollout of enterprise software platforms that improve operational efficiency, security, governance, and scalability.
- Coordinate projects involving business-critical platforms such as ERP, HRIS, finance systems, procurement tooling, asset management, ticketing, documentation, collaboration, and workflow automation tools.
- Work with business owners, technical teams, and vendors to define requirements, assess implementation options, and manage rollout plans.
- Support process improvements across employee lifecycle, access control, asset management, ticketing, documentation, and internal support workflows.
Infrastructure, Networking & Security Engineering
- Deliver projects involving corporate infrastructure, cloud environments, network improvements, endpoint management, monitoring, and internal platform reliability.
- Manage networking projects such as office network buildouts, Wi-Fi upgrades, LAN/WAN improvements, VPN implementation, firewall changes, network segmentation, secure remote access, and connectivity for restricted or sensitive environments.
- Coordinate security engineering initiatives such as access reviews, vulnerability management, audit readiness, compliance improvements, and security tooling implementation.
- Work closely with security stakeholders to ensure projects meet appropriate governance, risk, and compliance expectations.
- Help embed security-by-design principles into internal technology, enterprise software, network architecture, and operational processes.

Operating Rhythm & Process
- Establish lightweight project management processes suitable for a high-growth technical organisation.
- Improve visibility of technical operations work across the company.
- Create and maintain project documentation, implementation plans, decision logs, and post-implementation reviews.
- Help prioritise competing initiatives based on business impact, technical urgency, security risk, and resource availability.
- Support continuous improvement in how the Technical Operations Department plans, executes, and communicates work.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Technical Programme Manager, or similar role.
- Experience delivering projects across several of the following areas: IT operations, internal tooling, infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, enterprise software, security engineering, DevOps, corporate systems, or technical operations.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts such as identity and access management, networking, cloud infrastructure, endpoint management, SaaS administration, enterprise software implementation, security controls, and operational tooling.
- Experience working with engineering, IT, security, infrastructure, networking, or enterprise systems teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project planning, dependency management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively with ambiguity and turn loosely defined needs into structured delivery plans.
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear project documentation, status updates, and executive summaries.
- High attention to detail and a strong bias toward ownership and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Experience in a defence, aerospace, national security, government, regulated technology, or high-security environment.
- Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance requirements, or assurance processes such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST, SOC 2, or similar.
- Experience supporting security clearance, restricted environments, or controlled information workflows.
- Experience delivering networking projects involving firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, LAN/WAN, network segmentation, zero trust networking, or secure connectivity.
- Experience implementing or managing enterprise software platforms such as ERP, HRIS, finance systems, procurement systems, asset management platforms, ITSM tooling, or workflow automation platforms.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Linear, Asana, Notion, Confluence, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Okta, JumpCloud, Kandji, Jamf, Intune, GitHub, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Background in IT operations, infrastructure engineering, network engineering, security operations, systems administration, enterprise systems, or technical delivery.
- Experience working in a start-up or scale-up where processes are still being built.
- Familiarity with procurement, vendor management, and implementation of third-party technical systems.
