Technical Project Engineer Roles

There are 4 Technical Project Engineer roles - one each for Synthetics, ITEA, TLS, and Process and Integration.

Active SC Clearance is Mandatory. DV is preferred – required to work on-site to support sensitive MOD/aerospace programmes.

Aerospace and Defence Experience – demonstrable background delivering architecture within MOD, Defence Digital, or UK aerospace environments.

This role will be based in Reading with a minimum percentage of time onsite being 50%.

Job Purpose

The Project Engineer is responsible for the technical execution and delivery of projects and initiatives. Acting as the primary technical interface between engineering teams and Delivery Management, the Project Engineer coordinates project activities, manages technical risks and dependencies, and ensures successful delivery aligned with scope, schedule, quality, and business objectives.

Key Accountabilities and Objectives

Accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate technical activities across engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project execution, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Support the development and management of project plans and technical roadmaps.
  • Provide technical leadership and first-level technical decision making.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for engineering issues.
  • Manage technical interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Support project reporting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to agreed engineering processes and standards.
  • Facilitate technical reviews and milestone assessments.
  • Actively provide and manage inputs to Artefact and Deliverable Lifecycle Management.

Track execution against project objectives and delivery milestones. Contribute to effort estimation and resource planning activities. Support workload prioritization and capacity management. Escalate risks, issues, and schedule impacts appropriately. Ensure project deliverables meet agreed quality criteria.

Governance

  • Ensure compliance with engineering governance, processes, and standards.
  • Support configuration and change management activities.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure alignment.
