Job Title: Technical Publications Engineer
Location
- Huddersfield: 4 days per week
- Derby: 3 days per week

Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Technical Publications Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working on complex aerospace & defence systems.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold British nationality
- Have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years
- Be eligible for SC security clearance
Role Responsibilities
- Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentation, and Assembly and disassembly instructions and any other client-facing technical documentation.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and BOMs to develop user-centric documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality.
- Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent.
- Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, including the maintenance of standards, procedures, processes, and SOPs in accordance with national standards, international standards, and customer requirements.
- Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings providing updates and support on metallurgy function-related issues as required.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery.
- Experience in the heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears, and gearboxes.
- Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly.
- Proficiency in authoring tools.
- Strong attention to details and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies, and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gears, and gearboxes.
