Role: Technical Publication (TechPub) Application Support

Location – Stevenage, UK
Type: Permanent / Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide application support and administration for Technical Publications platforms, Common Source Database (CSDB) environments, and associated publishing toolsets.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex application, workflow, integration, data, configuration, and publishing issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support incident, problem, change, release, and service request management in accordance with established ITIL-aligned processes.
  • Monitor application health, system performance, availability, and operational stability, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Coordinate with software vendors, infrastructure, database, security, and internal IT teams to resolve technical issues and manage cross-functional dependencies.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Technical Publications applications, document management, and publishing processes.
  • Administer and maintain CSDB environments, including application configuration, user/access administration, and operational support.
  • Support automated and manual publishing workflows, application upgrades, patches, maintenance activities, and new releases.
  • Contribute to operational governance through SLA/KPI monitoring, service reporting, dashboards, knowledge management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proven experience supporting Technical Publications applications within Aerospace, Defence.
  • Hands-on experience supporting CSDB platforms and document publishing environments.
  • Strong Application Management Services (AMS) experience within managed services or enterprise application support environments.
  • Good understanding of ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Service Request, Configuration, and Knowledge Management processes.
  • Relevant IT experience with hands-on enterprise application support and administration.
  • Experience supporting multiple COTS and business applications; exposure to specialized Technical Publications, publishing, content management, or visualization platforms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of XML/XSLT technologies is desirable.
  • Understanding of document publishing workflows and technical documentation processes; experience in Aerospace documentation is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across application, interface, data, access, configuration, and environment-related issues.
  • Working knowledge of ITSM/ticketing platforms, CMDB practices, SLA/KPI reporting, dashboards, and operational governance.
  • Ability to analyse application logs, troubleshoot production issues, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage dependencies with product vendors.
  • Good understanding of application patching, vulnerability remediation, maintenance activities, certificate management, and service account governance.
  • Basic SQL/database knowledge and awareness of integrations, APIs, job scheduling, file transfers, and application interfaces.
  • Experience working effectively with onsite, offshore, and third-party teams within a structured enterprise support model.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
