The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Technical Safety Manager.
The Technical Safety Manager will lead technical safety activities across projects from concept and FEED through detailed design and commissioning support. They will provide technical leadership to engineers, specialist advice to clients and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that safety requirements are effectively incorporated into plant design.

The Technical Safety Manager will work closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines to identify hazards, assess risks and develop robust and inherently safer design solutions.
You’ll be supported with personalized on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain and develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, HAC assessments and other risk assessment activities.
- Develop and review technical safety philosophies, design bases, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Lead or oversee fire and explosion assessments, consequence modelling, and hazardous area classification.
- Provide technical safety input to process design, equipment selection, plant layout, relief and flare systems, instrumentation and control, and other engineering activities.
- Review and approve technical safety calculations, studies, specifications, drawings, and reports within delegated authority.
- Lead or participate in design reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, SIL assessments, HAC, and other project assurance activities.
- Identify safety risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are developed and implemented.
- Support technical assurance, audits, and incident investigations where required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, client requirements, company procedures, and recognized industry standards.
- Act as a senior technical interface with clients and other stakeholders.
- Represent the company at technical meetings, workshops, HAZOPs, and design reviews.

Minimum Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in Technical Safety / Process Safety Engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, energy, or process industries.
- Proven experience delivering technical safety activities within a design engineering, EPC, or consultancy environment.
- Strong experience in HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of SIL/functional safety, consequence modelling, hazardous area classification, and fire/explosion assessment.
