Sales Manager | Packaging Automation

North East England & Scotland | Home Based

Food Manufacturing | Packaging Machinery & Automation

This role is really about one thing.

Knowing how to sell.

Not simply responding to enquiries, producing quotations and hoping for an order. We’re looking for someone who knows how to build relationships, open doors, spot opportunities and become genuinely valuable to their customers.

Someone who gets close to a business, understands where it’s going and becomes part of that journey.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a global packaging machinery organisation at the forefront of its industry, with the backing, technology and engineering capability to deliver everything from individual machines through to major integrated systems.

The business has a significant presence within food manufacturing, particularly bakery, and works with some of the biggest and best-known manufacturers in the market.

Typical machinery projects are £150,000–£250,000.

Individual machines can reach £400,000.

And when the opportunity develops into a complete system solution, projects can exceed £1 million.

But none of that happens without someone developing the opportunity in the first place. That’s where you come in.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll take responsibility for customers and opportunities across the North East of England and Scotland.

You’ll inherit existing relationships, but the opportunity is much bigger than simply managing what’s already there.

We want someone who naturally asks:

  • Who aren’t we talking to?
  • What’s happening within our existing customers?
  • Where are they investing next?
  • What problems are they trying to solve?
  • Who else should I know within that business?

You’ll spend time with customers, understand their production challenges and investment plans, and stay close enough that you’re involved before a project becomes an RFQ.

That’s the difference.

We’re not hung up on job titles.

You might already be a Sales Manager.

You might be a Sales Engineer who’s discovered that the commercial side is where you’re strongest.

You might come from packaging machinery, food processing equipment, automation or another capital equipment environment, as long as you know the food industry.

You don’t necessarily need to be the finished article.

But you do need to understand sales.

You’ll know how to:

  • Build genuine, long-term customer relationships
  • Open doors and create conversations
  • Spot opportunities others miss
  • Ask good questions and listen to the answers
  • Develop an opportunity rather than simply quote for one
  • Navigate engineering, operations, procurement and senior management
  • Stay close to customers without becoming transactional
  • Build trust over time
  • Turn an initial conversation into a significant capital project

Most importantly, customers should want to deal with you.

What do you get behind you?

  • A global manufacturer.
  • Outstanding packaging technology.
  • A substantial installed base.
  • Major food manufacturing customers.
  • Strong technical and engineering support.
  • And the capability to take an opportunity from an individual piece of equipment all the way through to a £1m+ integrated solution.

That’s a powerful proposition in the hands of the right salesperson.

Interested?

If you’re commercially sharp, naturally good with people and know how to turn relationships into opportunities, I’d like to hear from you.

You don’t need the perfect CV.

You do need to know how to sell.
