Position Summary

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will lead the commercial growth of WSL's laser cleaning division, developing relationships with new and existing customers and identifying opportunities across a range of industries. You will be heavily involved in the technical and commercial aspects of laser cleaning products, guiding prospective customers through the evaluation and purchasing process.

You will conduct customer demonstrations, explain the principles, practical benefits, and limitations of laser cleaning technology, and work closely with the engineering, applications, and production teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and addressed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the business development and sales activities for the company's laser cleaning product range
  • Identify and develop new customer opportunities in target markets
  • Conduct customer meetings, product demonstrations, and on-site trials
  • Explain the principles, capabilities, benefits, and limitations of laser cleaning technology to customers with varying levels of technical knowledge
  • Manage the sales pipeline and maintain accurate records within the company CRM system.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback to support ongoing product development and continuous improvement
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, and industry events

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a technical sales, applications engineering, business development, or customer-facing engineering role is desirable but not essential.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with engineering principles and industrial processes. Ability to understand and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Familiarity with laser systems, or optical systems would be advantageous.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, relationship building, commercial awareness, organisation, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Working Conditions

Ideally office-based, on site, with regular customer visits and demonstrations throughout the UK and occasional international travel. Working from a remote location will be considered if necessary. The company operates a 4-day working week option (37.5 hours), which involves longer hours on the 4 working days. This needs to be agreed in advance with management.
