Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Southern UK-based, with travel as required
Working pattern: Hybrid home/field-based
Salary: Up to £55,000, with bonus and benefits

A leading engineering business is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join its UK team and support customers across a broad regional territory. This role combines technical consultation, relationship building, and solution-led sales across a specialist product range.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with customers, understanding their needs, and recommending the most suitable technical solution. The successful candidate will spend time visiting customer sites, acting as a trusted advisor, and supporting commercial growth through strong technical knowledge and a customer-focused approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted point of contact.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend the most suitable solution from the product range.
  • Visit customer and office sites as required, with some travel and occasional overnight stays.
  • Work independently while maintaining a professional and consistent approach.
  • Support commercial development through effective sales activity and service-led selling.

Person profile

We are looking for a confident, practical, and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and customer service skills. You will be logical, accountable, and comfortable working on your own initiative, while also contributing positively as part of a team.

Required experience

  • Technical sales or customer-facing commercial experience.
  • A good understanding of engineering or technical products.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using CRM systems.

Desirable

  • Experience in a technical engineering environment.
  • A recognised mechanical or electrical qualification.
